RWS SHOOTY CUP: Highlight of the year for young German Shooters

´

The RWS SHOOTY CUP took place on 29 August at the Olympic shooting range in Garching near Munich.

The 29th edition of the RWS SHOOTY Cup was won by the Olympic duo Robin Walter and Maximilian Ulbrich (Württemberg).

Every year, the RWS Shooty Cup fascinates hundreds of spectators on site and thousands in front of the live stream. The competition is characterised by its special format: each of the 20 DSB regional associations puts together a team of four students, consisting of two rifle and two pistol shooters, who compete for a place in the final. The special thing about this is that if a team makes it into the top eight, two top shooters are drawn by lot to compete in the final for their team.

The qualification was exciting right up to the last shot. 13 of the 20 national associations achieved a result of over 700 rings.

Whilst the children were competing in their preliminaries, the top shooters were preparing for their final. RWS shooter Maxi Dallinger revealed that the RWS Shooty Cup is the most difficult competition of the year for all top shooters, as they do not compete for themselves, but for the children to whom they have been drawn.

The field of participants also shows how important the RWS SHOOTY CUP is to the top shooters. With Anna Janßen, Maximilian Ulbrich, Doreen Vennekamp, Robin Walter and Christian Reitz, five Olympic participants from Paris were at the start. The five were completed by Larissa Wegner, Anita Mangold, Isabella Straub, Hannah Steffens, Maximilian Dallinger, Max Braun, Monika Karsch, Carina Wimmer, Sandra Reitz, Andrea Heckner and Andreas Köppl.

In the end, Robin Walter & Maximilian Ulbrich (Württemberg) came out on top ahead of Maxi Dallinger & Sandra Reitz (Upper Palatinate) and Isabella Straub & Andreas Köppl (South Baden).

With the RWS Shooty Cup, RWS actively supports the promotion of young talent in Germany year after year. Only with good promotion of young talent can future talents be developed and competitiveness secured in the long term. It also promotes values such as team spirit, discipline and fairness, which are of great importance both in sport and in everyday life.
